Steven Arvanites

I just interviewed Steven Arvanites. What a firecracker of a dude.  He has that awesome NYC energy and the writing chops and experience to back it up.  We had nearly 50 people in attendance at the Guild meeting, and his Q&A was very well received.  I learned a lot.   Excited for tomorrow's workshop.

L.A. Trip – Day 5

I got to the Beverly Hills/Westwood area early this morning. So I had some time to kill before my meeting with Blake Snyder. I stopped in at the much lauded Writer's Store. I hadn't been there in years, but I've ordered numerous books, brads, paper, and other accessories from them. They have any thing you'd ever need for your [...]

L.A. Trip – Day 4

L.A. Trip – Day 4

I rolled up to the WGA Library at 7000 W 3rd in the SOFAX area. Why go there? Because they have produced TV and Film script that you can read there. You can park underneath the WGA Foundation building (cheap, make sure you get your ticket validated), go upstairs, say hi to the front desk dudes, and head to the lockers, where you can [...]

L.A. Trip – Day 2

Got home late last night. Woke up early and met up with Misher Films Exec and Former NWSG guest, Kevin Chang. He took me surfing for the first time ever. The best part of surfing? Cute girls who like surfers. I was standing out on the street, holding a board, no clue which end was up or down, and got hit on by a hot chick. Kevin was [...]

This week’s event

Sorry I've been out of the blogging space. Between a big rewrite, developing a TV series, family in town, web design gigs, and fighting off a cold, I've been buried. I'm excited to report that although we lost Abby Ex (from Hey Day Films), we found a sub in Jake Kirily, an exec whose company, Mosaic, has worked on a couple of little [...]

Pilar Alessandra. Woodywoo!

On a positive note, I am ecstatic that Pilar Alessandra is coming up from LA next weekend. As Brando would say, "Woodywoo!" That's his "hot girl" bark. No, really it is. We are so lucky to have someone of her caliber conduct one of her workshops for an extremely affordable fee. For those of you who are vacillating about attending the [...]

Walter Dalton at Cannes

A little birdie told me that past guest, Walter Dalton, is at the Cannes Film Festival with his lovely wife. The last two films he acting in are being shown there. I can't wait to chat with him when he gets back. Soooo coool. Speaking of cool. I'm up at a "cabin" near Lake Wenatchee, trying to get my next feature done. How lucky [...]

News on past guest, Bobby Moresco

(from Variety) Producer Robert Moresco ("Million Dollar Baby," "Crash") has partnered with Artist Relations Group to produce a biopic about Fidel Castro's exiled daughter, Alina Fernandez. Castro recently ceded power to his brother Raul after almost 50 years in power. Story, set in 1958, begins after Castro seized control of Cuba, with Fernandez [...]

Marilyn Atlas Rocks

I've never met anyone who's flight was almost two hours late and they were still in such good spirits.  Actually, nobody is in a good mood at the airport. I knew when I picked up Marilyn Atlas from Sea-Tac and she was all smiles, that we were in a for a real treat this weekend. Coincidentally, Seth Talley, after a year of working on [...]

Kevin and Matt /Post Pitches / Catherine Ann Jones

We just finished up the weekend with film execs, Kevin Chang of Misher Films and Matt Skiena of Village Roadshow. They were extremely forthcoming and generous during our extensive interview/Q&A session with yours truly. That was some turnout - around 50-60 people. We even got to see a new trailer for Speed Racer, as well as a promo [...]
